Short Description:
This research focuses on improving decision-making in cultural tourism by developing a comprehensive set of sustainability indicators tailored to European destinations. It proposes an indicator-based framework that covers environmental, economic, social, cultural, resilience, and characterization domains. The framework, created in collaboration with 21 European tourism destinations, emphasizes resilience, crisis recovery, digital innovation, and cultural heritage preservation. By involving stakeholders and using real-case scenarios, the framework bridges theoretical and practical aspects, helping tourism destinations assess the impacts of cultural tourism. This approach aims to support more sustainable, responsible, and balanced tourism development.
